It was a hot, windless, and dusty day in Etosha National Park, Namibia.
The signs were there that it is going to be another blistering hot and boring day.
Even to this day there is uncertainty and debate who started it all, but suddenly there was an enthusiastic shout – “Let’s have a pool party !”.
The reaction was immediate and spontaneous – the change in atmosphere was palpable.
The kids were gathered, beer packed, swimming costumes were ignored or forgotten (nobody cared) – it was party time!
They came from everywhere – in pairs, groups, and singles.
It did not take long before the first arrivals appeared poolside.
The party got going very quickly and enthusiastically.
The more prudent moms quickly fed the kids before joining the fun.
As with many a great party, there were also the uninvited that tried to slip in.
It therefore did not take long before the gate crashers started rocking up.
What to do about the good, bad, and ugly?
Oh well – live and let live!
Party !!!
Of course there were the inevitable wall flowers and nay sayers, but even they enjoyed the boisterous spectacle despite their aloofness and pretenses!
All too soon the day passed and was it time to pack up the kids and return home.
The last of the crowd left – happy and content.
It was just another day in Africa !
🙂
