The well known opera, The Barber of Seville, was staged by Cape Town Opera in Cape Town recently and I had the opportunity to shoot some images.
It is always fun to take photographs at the Artscape Theatre and Opera House, and listening to the wonderful and well-known music of Rossini with excellent voices while shooting photographs made it even more fun !
Below are some images from that performance. What also made it interesting was that the set had a distinct Cuban look and vibe, it was very colourful and worked pretty well in my layman’s opinion. Apparently Figaro had too much debt in Spain and escaped to Cuba where he opened a barbershop and pub – or so the rumour goes 🙂
All-in-all it was an opera worth attending, and judged by the fact that all seats were sold out despite extra performances being scheduled indicates a huge success !
