Summer, Salmon, and Rosé

I’m not a great fan of Rosé wine, but there is something to be said for the combination of Rosé, lovely food, good friendship, and a balmy summer evening…

With summer approaching and rosé wines deemed to be ideal as a summer drink, a group of us decided to have a tasting to celebrate the start of summer here in our lovely Western Cape. The date was set, the necessary wines acquired, and we were ready to go!

The weather was perfect – a warm and windless evening (a rare combination in the Cape), and spirits were high as we admired the splendid view of the sun setting while we got ready for our tasting. While the wine was being poured our hostess was making sure that the food will be ready at the point where appetite will surpass thirst 🙂

This is how it went:

Six wines to be tasted, neatly arranged and numbered.

Preparing the base for an astonishingly good Salmon dish.

Being the start of summer means a good salad is part of dinner.

Preparation is part of the experience.

Room with a view.

A salmon dish that matched our wines perfectly.

Fresh salad to compliment both wine and salmon dish.

Ready to pare the food and wine!

Allround happiness! 🙂

And the winner was….. to my mind there was no doubt, it was that brilliant salmon dish!
